Week 2: Wednesday, September 11, Oliver House Museum, 24 E. Adams St., Jackson 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Cost $5/person, payable on site
The Oliver House Museum is the former home of Senator Robert Oliver and his wife Marie Watkins-Oliver, who created the Missouri state flag. Missouri adopted the official flag on March 22, 1913. Built in 1848, this historic home (listed on the National Register of Historic Places) is Greek revival style brick.
Week 3: Wednesday, September 18, Grand River Historical Society Museum, 1401 Forest Dr., Chillicothe 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Free Admission
The Grand River Historical Museum functions as a time capsule from the daily lives of the men, women, and families who built the community. Connect with the early history of the region -- including Chillicothe – the "Home of Sliced Bread". At the tourism center, the Sliced Bread Innovation Center across town (directly adjacent to the original bakery), you can see murals and a later model of the 1928 Rohwedder breadslicer.
